Pupper Butter Cookies

Yields: 165 small cookies
Servings 0

Ingredients

  • cups fresh ground peanut butter (Natural Grocers)
  • 1 cup oat flour
  • cups almond flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp cinnamon Ceylon
  • 1 tbsp clover honey raw, unfiltered (Natural Grocers)
  • 1 cup milk

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  • Mix all of the ingredients together in a bowl, adding the milk last.
  • Stir until all moistened.
  • Knead thoroughly.
  • Form into a ball.
  • Place the ball onto an oat or almond floured sheet of wax paper.
  • Roll the dough out to about an ⅛ of an inch thick.
  • Use any shape cookie cutter to cut the cookies. (I used small ones because my fur babies are little and because of the honey product.)
  • Place on a cookie sheet lined with wax paper.
  • Bake for 12 minutes. (All ovens are different, so start checking them at about 8 minutes. Also, if you want softer, don’t cook as long, or if you want crunchier, cook a little longer.
  • Last, but not least, share with your fur baby.
  • As many as this recipe makes, you can share with other “fur”iends in your life.

Notes

  • Dogs really enjoy the taste of raw honey.  A taste of honey as an occasional treat is fine. That said, feeding your pet more than one teaspoon of honey each day can impact their health negatively. This is because dogs and cats are carnivores and have teeth and a digestive system evolved for eating meat, not sweets. Too much honey can also result in tooth decay and in extra calories that lead to obesity. These cookies are small and the recipe makes 165 cookies, so the amount of honey is very little.
  • When using peanut butter in dog treats always check to make sure it doesn’t contain xylitol. Xylitol is an artificial sweetener that a few brands use and it can be fatal to dogs. Check out this list for more information on which brands use xylitol in their products.
