BUTTERY PUMPKIN DOGGY COOKIES

Ingredients

  • 1 cup organic pumpkin puree
  • ½ cup organic almond butter
  • 1 cup organic quick rolled oats
  • cups organic oat flour
  • 1 tsp Ceylon cinnamon
  • 1 tsp baking powder

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and line two cookie sheets with cooking parchment paper.
  • In a medium bowl, combine the quick rolled oats, oat flour, baking powder, and cinnamon.
  • In another medium bowl, combine the almond butter and pumpkin purée.
  • Slowly add the dry mixture to the wet mixture and mix well. You want the dough to have a Play-Doh consistency so, you will knead it to completely mix the ingredients. Add a little water if the dough is too dry. Add a little flour if the dough is too sticky.
  • Place a ball of dough on a parchment paper covered counter. Place another piece of parchment paper on top of the dough ball and roll flat with a rolling pin.
  • Cut shapes in the dough using cookie cutters of choice.
  • Place shapes on the prepared cookie sheets and bake in the oven for 10 to 12 minutes.
  • Remove from the oven and let cool thoroughly.
  • Keep the cookies stored in the refrigerator in an airtight container. You can also freeze these cookies.

Notes

Just like when using peanut butter in dog treats, when using almond butter always check to make sure it doesn’t contain xylitol. Xylitol is an artificial sweetener that a few brands use, and it can be fatal to dogs. Check out this list for more information on which brands use xylitol in their products.
