Javi and I spent a couple of hours today browsing through old antiques at the Lone Star Antique Show in our local area. You never know what kind of treasures you might find at these places, what kind of people you might meet and as we discovered today, what kind of dogs you might meet.
We didn’t go expecting to spend money on any treasures and we sure didn’t go thinking we would get an opportunity to pet a couple of cute doggies. However, we did both, we bought a couple of treasures and got some fur loves from two cuties. Let me introduce you to our new “fur”iends.
Meet Mojo
This cute wiry-haired terrier mix was laying under one of the shelves located in his dog parent’s booth. His sweet face and big, brown eyes beckoned us to talk to him. As soon as we did, he came out ready for us to give him our undivided attention for a few moments. We obliged giving him lots of petting and compliments. Mojo’s mom said he was a rescue baby. I’m so thankful for the people who go to their local pet shelters to adopt their new family members.
Meet Eli (short for Elijah)
This adorable maltipoo and I did not get off to a great start. We spotted him in a tub under one of the tables in his dog dad’s booth. I immediately started talking to him and dropped to the ground to snap a photo. His daddy gave me a fair warning telling me to let him come out of his bed to me. I did not heed the warning and held my hand out low to the ground for him to smell. Eli growled, bared his teeth, and snapped at my hand. I didn’t know I could be so quick.
Word of advice here, a dog parent always knows their fur baby’s antics so, listen and heed any warning they give you. Eli or E, as his dad affectionately calls him did come out of his bed from under the table and he did come straight to me for a little loving.
$6 Spent on Treasures
I’ve been enjoying baking homemade treats for Bella and Edward and have been on the hunt for cookie cutters. I haven’t thought about antique cookie cutters, but when I found this little dog cutter in such good shape, it became a treasure to me.
I have no idea how old the valentine cards are, but I found such delight in looking through them all and picking out a few with doggies on the front. Although, the front of the cards got my attention, it was the inside sayings that prompted me to purchase them.
I’ve inserted close ups below so you can read them better.
