Thus, National Today’s Love Your Pet Day survey reveals 40% of Americans consider dogs the most popular pet. In addition, cats are considered number two with a 25% popularity vote.
According to the same survey, 22% of Americans say they are grateful for their pets’ unconditional love. Furthermore, 17% say they are grateful when their pet comforts them when they’re sad.
The Love Your Pet Day survey posed the question, how do you show affection to your pet? Following are the top four results.

- I give my pet treats and gifts (13%)
- I cuddle with my pet (12%)
