Are you needing some dog date ideas for a perfect doggy date night? By the way, there is a national holiday named, Doggy Date Night. In fact, it is February 3rd. Consequently, February is a great month for this holiday since love is in the air with Valentine’s Day.
I’m actually all about doing something special any night of the year with my dogs. However, I love that there is a national holiday reminding us to make a date with them. As a result, an awesome bonding experience is bound to occur.
Doggy Date Night is about setting aside extra time to spend with your dog. You can use one of many dog date ideas to plan your date. Most importantly, plan to give your dog undivided attention and all the love they deserve.
Would you rather take your significant other or your dog on a date? Hmmm… maybe your dog. Ha! Ha! Well, one out of five single and married women would rather take their dog out. That’s 20%! Check out more fun facts!
Observe Doggy Date Night With Dog Date Ideas
Above all, when observing Doggy Date Night, make sure the evening is for just you and your dog. However, a significant other or the entire family can join, but make sure everyone dotes on your dog.
Furthermore, make sure you choose dog date ideas that your dog enjoys. However, there will be times that your dog might be uncomfortable on an outing. So, it would be best to abandon the activity and either try another one or try another night.
Following are some dog date ideas found around the internet. A few of them I thought of that might be fun to try. Plus, a few of them could even be combined to make a doggy date last a little longer.
“Sip and Paint”
You both can be an artist for a night of fun. For instance, lay newspaper on a large area of floor space, such as a garage or outdoor patio. Then, put white paper on top of the newspaper. Add some small puddles of paint on the newspaper and let your dog walk through them. Your dog will end up walking across the white paper, creating the cutest dog prints.
In addition, you can paint your dog’s paw and place it on paper to make a print. After it dries, you can turn it into something fun by adding details. Furthermore, I created an e-book with lots of fun ideas for turning your dog’s paw print into artwork. You can click on the button below to purchase it for only $12. Plus, a portion of the proceeds are donated to a nonprofit organization called Project Freedom Ride.
So, what about the sipping? Well, you can partake in a glass of your favorite wine. In addition, your dog can try Dogwine’s Fetch Me Grigio or FetchMe Noir. Dog wine contains organic bacon extract and organic salmon oil to be added to your dog’s water. You can find this on Amazon.
Visit a Dog-Friendly Eatery for Coffee or Ice Cream
There are lots of eateries that will cater to your dog. Some offer free or inexpensive dog treats. For instance, you can go to Starbucks to enjoy a latte while your dog enjoys a puppuccino. However, Dutch Bros. Co. and Dunkin Donuts give their share of pup-achinos and puppy lattes.
I’ve created a freebie guide for you that features 32 dog-friendly eateries and what their specialty is. You can grab your copy of A Foodie Guide Gone to the Dogs by clicking the button below.
In addition, most of the items should be fed as a treat only and not on a regular basis. Always consult your veterinarian before feeding your dog something new.
Plus, be sure to check with any eatery on whether they offer a free treat or not. You don’t want a disappointed dog on date night!
Eateries aren’t the only dog-friendly place. For instance, you can take your dog on a date to a dog-friendly brewery or winery.
Chef Night
Take your dog to visit a dog-friendly grocery store to purchase supplies for making a favorite treat. Then, include your dog in the baking process. For instance, talk to him or her about the special treat you are whipping up.
In addition, your dog can help by licking the spoon and bowl. I have lots of recipes for you to choose from in the Dog Chef section of this blog.
Shop ‘Til You Drop
Well, don’t literally drop. Find some dog-friendly stores, such as Lowes, Home Depot, or pet supply stores. Rover has a great list of dog-friendly stores you can try.
However, if shopping in a store doesn’t work, opt for “window shopping”. Find a fun, trendy area with a strip mall and take a stroll while “window shopping”.

Dog Date Ideas Can Be Randomly Chosen
For Valentine’s Day, a few years ago, Jessica at Beagles and Bargains shared her fun Doggy Date Night Jar. So easy and oh, so fun! Thank you Jessica for this awesome way to choose dog date ideas!
I have a couple of other fun ways to randomly choose dog date ideas. In addition, you can involve your dog in making the random choice.
Roll a Pocket or Write-On Cube
Are you aware of pocket cubes or write-on cubes? Certainly, either one works great for customizing your own activities.
A pocket cube is made of soft foam and is like a small pocket chart in a cube. For instance, you add your own flash cards, photos and more to create fun and educational games. Similarly, games are created using a write-on cube. For example, you write whatever you want on the faces of the cube.
Therefore, these cubes are perfect for randomly choosing one of your dog date ideas. Roll the cube and see which one of the six dog date ideas come up on top. As a result, you’re randomly choosing which date to go on.
Most importantly, you can involve your dog in the process. That is to say, let your dog roll the cube. That’s right! Lay it on the ground and let your dog do the rolling with his or her nose.
I’m not an affiliate with Amazon, however you can order the pocket cubes from them or Oriental Trading. As for the write-on cubes, I found mine at my local Dollar Tree.
Roll a Dice
You’ll need a jumbo, foam, dot dice, index cards, a marker or pen, and date night ideas. You actually can use a regular dice if you are not going to have your dog roll it. Furthermore, you can use a numbered dice rather than a dot dice.
Firstly, write the numerals one through six on six index cards. For example, “1” on one card, “2” on another card, and so forth. Then, turn them over and write one of the dog date ideas per card.
After that, turn the cards over numeral side up and roll the dice. Subsequently, find the card with the numeral that matches the dice. Then, turn the card over to reveal the date you and your dog will go on.
These games help take the decision making out of choosing one of the dog date ideas. Plus, it’s fun to randomly choose. You get to use a little spontaneity.
Now This Is Something To Bark About!!
In Conclusion
Whether you outright choose or randomly choose from the many dog date ideas, you’re going to have fun! Nevertheless, maybe these dog date ideas have sparked some new ways for spending time with your dog.
You don’t need a national holiday, such as Doggy Date Night, to take your dog on a date. However, if you aren’t one to take your dog on dates, you can start with this holiday. Furthermore, Valentine’s Day is right after, so you can have two special dates this month with your dog.
