Hi Tracey,
I'm so glad your dogs love the treats! They will last up to two in a container in the refrigerator.
Tell your dogs, I said, "Hi!"

Hi Betty,
I'm glad you are about to make these dog treats for your fur baby! You can use steel cut oats. I didn't specify in my recipe what kind. From the photos, I can tell I used old fashioned oats. Most of my other recipes I use organic rolled oats. Just make sure you don't use instant oats, because they contain sugar.
Tell your dog, I said, "Hi!"

Getting ready to make these dog treats, can I use steel cut oatmeal? The ingredients say 100% whole grain Irish Oats?

Hi Tracey,
You are so welcome for the recipe! I'm so glad your puppy LOVES them! I'm also glad it is the best puppy cookie to date. That's cool that your hubby and son think they're pretty goo, too! I always taste the treats, too!
Tell your puppy that I said, "hi!"

Hi Jeyani,
I'm so happy that Luna and Pebbles love the treats. I have found that homemade dog treats last two to three weeks by placing them in an airtight container or a baggie and storing them in the refrigerator. You can also freeze them and thaw out a few at a time if you want. The amount they can have will depend on your dog's size and the size you make the treats. I give my small dogs two to three small treats throughout the day, such as one in the morning, sometimes one in the afternoon, and one after dinner. Thank you for trying out the recipe and for asking the questions.
Tell Luna and Pebbles I said, "hi!"

Hi Susan,
I am certainly glad your dogs like the taste. However, I am sad they did not hold together for you. Did you allow the dough to rest for 5 minutes, allowing the oats to expand? If you did, then you could try adding a flour such as wheat or oat. Start by adding a 1/4 cup and knead, then continuing adding until you feel like the dough has the right consistency. I hope it turns out better the next time around. Thank you for reading and baking for your dogs. Tell them I said, hi!

Hi. While the dogs apparently like the taste, these little nuggets just don't hold together well. There are pieces of oatmeal all over the stovetop and floor because the treats just don't gel. I'd highly recommend more than just the bananas for holding it all together!
